| Description / Abstract: | This report provides an improved knowledge basis and presents an overview of past and current research and monitoring projects on the mangrove environments of Darwin Harbour. The term mangrove environment refers to the flora, fauna, sediment quality, and sediment biogeochemistry of mangroves, including adjacent salt flats. This report draws on the findings of three key documents, which review the research and monitoring projects that have been conducted in Darwin Harbour. It also incorporates content from a recent review of the application of remote sensing. The reports include: A summary of projects conducted by the Northern Territory Government, Department of Land Resource Management (Fortune 2016); A literature review and summary of all scientific research conducted by Charles Darwin University (CDU 2015); A summary of research and monitoring conducted by EcoScience (EcoScience 2015); and A review of the application of remote sensing in mangrove habitats (Lieper and Joyce 2016). |
