Water Resources Division of the Department of Natural Resources, Environment and the Arts has been monitoring groundwater levels in bores in the ‘Top End’ of the Territory since the 1960’s. Groundwater monitoring provides essential water level data required to determine local and regional aquifer characteristics and to ensure sustainable groundwater supplies. 1188 bores are listed on our Hydstra database. 292 of these are still being monitored through manual measurement and 30 are currently equipped with continuous water level recorders. The Hydstra database allows easy retrieval of groundwater levels from any of these monitoring bores.
