|Biographical notes:||"Jo McGill former Director of the Northern Territory Library and the Northern Territory Archives Service. Both entities are responsible for ensuring the memory of the Northern Territory is collected and preserved and made accessible to today’s population and for the generations to come. The Archives service is responsible for the preservation of government and community archives, provision of public access to archives collections and the provision of records management policy. The Library also supports the network of 30 public libraries and knowledge centres that provide services across the sparsely populated Northern Territory of Australia. Jo has developed strong partnerships across government to ensure the success and relevance of the network, working to embed literacy training into all programs that are offered. The Northern Territory Library is working to ensure all Territorians have access to appropriate information and technology to promote intergenerational learning, increased literacy levels, maintenance of culture and capacity building. Before joining the Northern Territory Library, Jo worked in education, government and public libraries across the Territory, developing strong links with remote communities.
