Gravesite of Mr. M. D. Armstrong, Palmerston Cemetery

Name: Richards, John.
Title: Gravesite of Mr. M. D. Armstrong, Palmerston Cemetery.
My Story: Northern Territory Times and Gazette, Monday 25 January 1897 p3.

One of the most sorrowful outcrops from the terrible cyclone was the death of Mr. M. D. Armstrong, which took place at the Palmerston Hospital on the morning of the 17th. Deceased was a good deal exposed during the night of the storm and on the following day, and this brought on internal troubles to which he eventually succumbed. The intimation of his death was received in town with very marked signs of regret, and a large gathering followed his remains to the grave.

The deceased had been amongst us for about sixteen years, and during that time he drew round him a very large circle of intimate friends, who will deeply deplore his death. In many, ways Mr. Armstrong was a prominent and useful member of the community, forward in most things pertaining to the common good. His mother and other relatives are alive.
