The Northern Territory Library's World War II collection holds the fascinating World War II Evacuees List.

Containing the names of most of the 1066 women and 900 children that evacuated Darwin, most going by sea, with the first group leaving Darwin on December 19, and the last ship sailing on February 15, just before Darwin came under attack.

These attacks forced the nation to come together for the war effort, and the Northern Territory Library's World War II collection also contains a fascinating display of unique objects, documents and records that helps to illustrate what life was like in wartime Australia.

The Northern Territory Library's, 'Territory Stories' repository, houses 'HistoryNT' were you can locate the World War II collection.

Many historic World War II images, including these selected, are contained in the 'PictureNT' collection, housed in the 'Territory Stories' repository.
